A quarter past two, right in the middle of lunch. Four guests stand waiting at the host podium while the floor staff goes over the reservation book. - leave the wait for that time slot in the service log

What changes
What changes for the manager and the front desk
A guest kept standing too long walks out, and the whole sitting for that table goes with them. Today you see it once it has happened; with the alert, the floor manager knows while those people are still at the door and seats them at the table that is already laid. And at the end of the month there is a figure that does not exist today: at what times the waiting overlaps with a free table, and on which days. That changes the rota, not the people.
What people usually ask
Does IRIS know whether that empty table is reserved?
No. IRIS sees a table that is laid with nobody at it, and it sees people waiting on their feet. If that table is being held for a booking ten minutes from now, the reservation book knows it, the camera does not. That is why the alert goes to a person and moves nothing: the floor manager still decides who sits down, now with the figure in front of them.
Is this a way of monitoring the floor staff?
No, and it is not built for that. IRIS does not recognise faces and does not know who anybody is: it sees that guests are waiting and that tables are laid, not who is slow. The alert is there to send someone to the door, the same way you send someone to the pass when the work piles up. Measuring a person with a camera is not what we do, and we are not going to sell it as if it were.
Where are there cameras in a hotel, and where are there none?
In shared working areas: the dining room, the lobby, the corridor, the buffet, the loading bay. Rooms, bathrooms, changing rooms and any private space are out, and that is not a setting anyone can flip: there is no camera there, no detection and no alert. That is the line this sector draws, and we write it here rather than in a footnote.
