What changes for whoever answers for the plant

If the wrong frame does get fitted, the mistake only shows up at final inspection, with twenty more bodies behind it. Pulling it out then costs hours of line time and rework. With the camera the alert goes out while the part is still on the trolley, with the station, the time and the image of the part next to the body. Whether it gets fitted is decided by the line manager, not by the system.

How does IRIS know which variant is due on each body shell?

The plant tells it. The production order comes from the manufacturing system, not from the camera: IRIS is told which variant belongs to the unit at the station. What it adds is the other half: seeing the part that is actually ready, comparing its shape with the expected one, and flagging it with the image and the exact minute when the two do not match.

What if the part is covered or face down in the trolley?

Then there is no alert, and that is deliberate. A camera only compares what enters its frame. If the part is covered, turned away or out of shot, IRIS does not assess it and stays silent. It never passes a part it has not seen: saying that it could not be checked is more useful than saying it was fine.

Does IRIS stop the line when it finds the wrong part?

No. IRIS does not act on any machine: it alerts. It sends the station, the time and the image to whoever runs the line, and that person decides whether to stop, swap the part or carry on. What deserves an alert and what happens next is written by the plant, not by the camera.
