The seat on the trolley is not the one for this unit
Seat fitting station. The body, still unpainted, already has a red and black seat installed. In front of it, on a line trolley, waits a beige seat with a red cross stuck to the backrest: that part number does not belong to this configuration. Three people in helmets and hi-vis are talking it over beside the trolley. Behind them, a robot and more component containers. IRIS sees that the seat made ready is not the one this body’s order calls for.

What IRIS understands
What it recognises in this scene
- beige seat marked with a cross on the trolley
- red and black seat already fitted
- seat trolley beside the line
- unpainted body at the station
- team leader looking at the trolley
- colleague waiting on the other side of the trolley
What this camera measures
An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.
- 1Seats that do not match
- 1Seats already fitted in the unit
- 3People in shot
- 4 minTime since the alert
- 46Units checked this shift
The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.
The rule
You decide once. IRIS applies it always.
If
the seat made ready on the trolley does not match the part number on that body’s order
Then
- alert the line manager with the camera, the time and the station
- save the picture of the seat on the trolley and of the seat already fitted
- keep the alert open until the right seat appears on the trolley
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if the seat on the trolley is not the one on this body’s order.»
What changes
What changes for whoever answers for the plant
A seat is a safety component: it carries a pretensioner, an occupancy sensor and a connector. Fit the wrong part number and the fault turns up at final inspection or in an audit, by which time the car has been through ten stations. For the line manager, seeing the mismatch while the body is still standing there means swapping the trolley and carrying on. Seeing it later means removing a fitted seat, redoing the record and explaining it.
What people usually ask
Does IRIS read the seat part number?
Yes, when it is printed on the part or trolley label and visible from the camera. IRIS reads that code and compares it with the order for that body. That is reading a label on a part, not recognising anybody: there are three people in this scene and the system does not know who they are, nor does it need to in order to raise the alert.
What if the label is not visible from the camera?
Then IRIS works with what is visible: the colour, the shape and the type of seat on the trolley against what the order calls for. That is enough to flag a beige one where a red and black one belongs. When exact part-number certainty is needed, it comes from reading the code, not from the shape, and that is stated up front.
Does this replace final quality control?
No. Final inspection stays where it is, with the same checks. What changes is the moment: the alert arrives while the body is still at the station, not two hours and ten stations later. IRIS supplies the image and the exact minute; what happens to that unit is decided by the plant, not by the system.

Casinos
How long does it take to find a hand played two hours ago?
12 cases: 9 raise an alert when something happens and 3 only measure. You see each image as it is, and then with what IRIS understands on top.
Shopping centres
What does a shopping centre see beyond the visitor count?
12 cases: 4 raise an alert when something happens and 8 only measure. You see each image as it is, and then with what IRIS understands on top.
And the best part
Video tells you what happened. An alert reaches you while it is happening.
Reviewing the recording helps you explain. Hearing about it at the time helps you get there. Two different things, and until now you only had the first.
