A burst, soaked box about to go on the truck

Mid-morning at the inspection table, before dispatch. On the table sits a cardboard box with its top burst open, the board swollen and a water stain around it. An operator in gloves lifts the torn flap. A colleague with a tablet writes down what she sees. Another holds an intact box on the rollers, waiting. Behind them a pallet stands ready with the pallet jack. IRIS sees the deformed board, the tear and the stain, and flags that package before it leaves.

What IRIS understands

What it recognizes in this scene

  • burst, soaked box on the table
  • operator lifting the torn flap
  • colleague writing on the tablet
  • intact box waiting on the rollers
  • pallet ready with the pallet jack

What this camera measures

An alert says something’s happening. The reading says how much.

  • 96Packages checked at the table this hour
  • 5Packages set aside for damage this shift
  • 3People around the table
  • 2 min 40 sHow long the package has been held
  • 10:52Time of the check

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client’s measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a package reaches the dispatch table with torn, caved-in or damp-stained board

Then

  1. alert the dispatch supervisor with the camera, the time and the photo of the package
  2. save the video of the package from entering the frame until it is set aside
  3. count the packages set aside for damage across the shift
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if a package reaches the dispatch table torn, crushed or wet, and keep the photo for me.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

A broken box that goes on the truck comes back as a claim, and by then nobody knows whether it broke in the warehouse, on the dock or out on the route. With the camera, the package is flagged with its image and its time before it leaves. That changes the conversation with the carrier and with the customer: it stops being one person’s word against another’s and becomes a photograph with a timestamp.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS know whether what’s inside is broken?

No. The camera sees the state of the packaging: caved-in board, an open flap, damp stains. Nobody sees the contents until the box is opened. What it adds is that the package is flagged with its photo and its time before it goes on the truck, instead of being discovered at the customer’s door.

Can it tell a wet box from a dirty one?

Partly. It sees the stain, the sheen of soaked board and the deformation, and with that it flags the package for a person to look at. Whether it’s water, oil or dry dirt is for whoever opens it to say. The camera doesn’t decide what ships: it puts the package in front of somebody in time.

Is it useful for claiming against the carrier?

Yes, if the damage is visible. There’s an image of the package with the time and the point in the warehouse where it was. That tells you whether it arrived like that or was damaged inside. It doesn’t replace the quality report or the carrier’s paperwork: it supplies the photo and the minute those documents lack.

A new case each time. Always the same screen.

It plays by itself and shows one case from start to finish. It’s a summary: the real screen has far more functions than fit in this box.

  1. The rule gets built
  2. It goes to every camera
  3. Published, it watches alone
  4. And then it fires

And the best part

What happens outside the framedoesn’t exist for IRIS. No camera sees the whole world.

So the first thing we do is check what each camera covers and write it down: from here you can understand this, and not that. A dull hour that saves a lot of misunderstandings.

Tell us your problem and we’ll say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

A person answers, the same working day.
