Boxes leave the controlled cabinet with no work order open

Almost ten at night in the controlled product store. One of the steel cabinets is open. In front of it, a person in a blue gown, hairnet and gloves is holding a personal black bag, open, level with the shelf. On that shelf sit boxes of the same product the cabinet holds. Further back, another person pushes the distribution trolley down the aisle. IRIS sees material being taken from the cabinet and checks whether a work order is open for that hour.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • personal bag held up to the shelf
  • cabinet section standing open
  • boxes of controlled product in the cabinet
  • person standing at the open cabinet
  • distribution trolley in the aisle

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 6boxes taken from the cabinet
  • 2 min 40 scabinet has been open for
  • 1containers in sight that do not belong there
  • 2people in the store
  • 21:48time of the opening

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

material is taken from the controlled cabinet and no work order is open for that hour

Then

  1. alert the controlled store manager with the camera, the time and the video
  2. save the video from the moment the cabinet opened until it was closed
  3. log the opening with its time so it can be matched against the stock count
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if boxes are taken out of the controlled cabinet when no work order is open for that hour.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

In a controlled store, the discrepancy shows up in the count, and the count is next week. By then there are seven days of video and nobody knows where to start. With the camera, every cabinet opening is stamped with its time; if no work order is open for that hour, the alert goes out while it is happening. What the manager receives is not an accusation: it is an image, a minute and a question that needs answering.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS accuse anybody of stealing?

No. IRIS does not identify anybody, does not recognise faces and does not judge intent. It detects a fact: material was taken from a controlled cabinet and no work order is open for that hour. What it delivers is the image, the minute and the number of boxes. What happened there is decided by a person, with the video in front of them.

How does it know there was no work order open?

Not from the image: the rule matches the time of the opening against the open orders in the plant system. The camera contributes the exact moment and what is visible; the legitimate circuit is defined by the plant. If an order is open, there is no alert.

Is the recording of any use for the investigation afterwards?

Yes. The video is kept from the moment the cabinet opens until it closes, with the time and the count of boxes in sight. That turns a stock discrepancy into one specific minute to review. Who went in is told by the plant access control, not by the camera.

The real interface, step by step

A new case each time. Always the same screen.

It plays by itself and shows one case from start to finish. It is a summary: the real screen has far more functions than fit in this box.

  1. The rule gets built
  2. It goes to every camera
  3. Published, it watches alone
  4. And then it fires

And the best part

You can add more cameras;you cannot add more hours to anyone’s day.

Cameras can be multiplied; a person’s hours cannot. IRIS looks at everything coming in and leaves them the one thing no machine does better: deciding what to do.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
