What changes for whoever answers for the plant
In an airlock, segregation does not come from the door: it comes from never having two open at once. When the interlock fails, gets wedged, or somebody overrides it during a rushed transfer, no trace is left that it happened. With the camera there is: the supervisor sees how often it happens, on which shift, at which door and how many seconds each time. That fixes the cause, not the report.

Is the door interlock not enough?
Not on its own. The interlock is the first defence and it stays in charge, but it fails, it gets wedged, and sometimes it is overridden to push a trolley through in a hurry. The camera watches what actually happens: two leaves open at once. It does not replace the interlock, it watches over it, and it leaves the picture, the time and how many seconds it lasted.
Does IRIS close the door or block the way?
No. IRIS alerts; it does not act. It does not close doors, does not stop lines and does not send anyone anywhere. It sends the alert with the camera, the time and the video, and from there a person decides. If the plant wants that alert to light a beacon or open a report, that can be set up, but the instruction comes from the plant and not from the camera.
Does it work in a material airlock as well?
Yes. The rule is the same: two leaves that should never be open together are open together. What passes through changes — a trolley, a pallet, a tray — but what the camera watches does not. And it counts as well: how many times per shift, at which airlock and how many seconds each time.
