A leaflet from the previous batch left on the table ends up inside a carton from the next one, and that turns up outside the plant. Line clearance gets signed on a sheet of paper: the signature says the line was clear, but it does not show the line. With the camera, the supervisor has the picture of the minute it was signed and a count of what was still in sight. If there is an investigation, there is somewhere to start.

Does IRIS sign off a line clearance?
No. IRIS sees what is still in sight and shows it with the picture and the time; the clearance is signed by a person. And there is a limit worth saying out loud: a microscopic product residue, a dust or a trace is not confirmed by a camera. That is a laboratory analysis. IRIS provides the visual check, not the analysis.
Can it read the batch number on a carton?
Yes, provided the text is printed, in focus and inside the frame: it is read and compared with the batch order. If it is covered, turned away or blurred, IRIS does not guess: it says it cannot read it and leaves the picture for a person to look at. A detail that cannot be seen is never invented.
Does it replace the clearance checklist?
No. It works alongside it. The checklist still belongs to the plant and the signature still belongs to a person; IRIS adds the picture of the exact minute and a count of what was still in sight, table by table. It does not replace the quality system or the manufacturing system either: it gives them the visual evidence they did not have.
