What changes for whoever runs the parking lot
On a curved ramp there’s no visibility: by the time two cars see each other, there’s no room left. The parking lot finds out about these things through the insurance report. With the camera the manager has the direction, the measured speed and the video, and can see whether it happens once a month or twenty times a day on the same ramp. That’s what decides whether the signage or the layout has to change.

How does a camera measure speed?
With a stopwatch and two lines. Two lines are drawn on the roadway at a known distance apart, and the time the vehicle takes to go from one to the other is measured. The result is a repeatable number, the same today or a month from now. A line can’t be described in a sentence: it has to be drawn, and that’s what makes the number hold up.
Does IRIS read the plate of the car going the wrong way?
No. On this camera IRIS doesn’t read plates. It detects that a vehicle is traveling the lane against the configured direction, measures its speed between the two lines and saves the video with the time. Identifying the vehicle, if that’s needed, is a matter for the parking lot system with its own access records.
Can IRIS stop the car or close the ramp?
No. IRIS alerts and keeps the footage; it doesn’t act. It doesn’t lower a barrier, it doesn’t switch a light and it doesn’t send anybody anywhere: a person at the parking lot decides that, with the video in front of them. What it does do is count how many times it happens and on which ramp, which is what you need in order to change anything.
