Two cars crossed on a single opening

Mid-afternoon at the parking lot entrance. The barrier is up. A gray car goes under the arm and, right on its bumper, a blue car follows without stopping at the ticket column. The barrier opened once and two vehicles went through underneath. That’s what the camera sees and that’s what it records: two cars, one opening, the exact time and the video of the moment.

What IRIS understands

What it recognizes in this scene

  • second vehicle right behind the first
  • first vehicle under the barrier
  • barrier arm in the raised position
  • entry ticket column
  • parking lot entry sign

What this camera measures

An alert says something’s happening. The reading says how much.

  • 2Vehicles that went through
  • 1Barrier openings
  • 2 sTime between the two cars
  • 11 sTime with the barrier up
  • 18:24Time of the crossing

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client’s measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

two vehicles go through on a single barrier opening

Then

  1. alert the control desk with the camera and the exact time
  2. save the video of the seconds before and after the crossing
  3. log the event in the day’s access record
The instruction that set it up«Tell me when more than one vehicle goes through on a single barrier opening, and save me the video with the time.»

What changes

What changes for whoever runs the parking lot

The parking lot manager hears about this, if at all, as a month-end mismatch: more cars came in than were charged, and he doesn’t know where. With the camera he has the fact next to the figure: two vehicles, one opening, the time and the video. From there he decides what to do, whether to check the reader, change how long the barrier stays up, or talk to the permit holder. IRIS doesn’t judge: it hands over the moment.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS read the plate to know who went through?

No. On this camera IRIS doesn’t read plates. It sees two vehicles crossing the barrier on one opening and saves the video with the time. Who was driving, whether there was a permit and whether the transaction adds up is answered by the parking lot system, not by the camera. IRIS supplies the fact and the exact minute; the rest is cross-checked by whoever runs access.

Is this a fraud alert?

No. IRIS doesn’t say there’s fraud and doesn’t point at anybody: it says two vehicles went through on one barrier opening and shows the video. It could be a reader error, a car following without noticing, or something else entirely. What it means is decided by a person, with the footage in front of them.

Is it useful if the barrier is slow to come down?

Yes. The camera times how long the arm stays up on each opening and counts the vehicles that cross meanwhile. If one entrance repeats the same pattern every day, the figure shows it. From there the parking lot decides whether to adjust the closing time; IRIS alerts and measures, it doesn’t change the barrier settings.

See it for yourself

This isn’t a video. It’s a slice of the real screen.

A summary of the real interface, played hands-free. You see one case from start to finish; what you don’t see are the other screens, and there are many.

  1. You draw the line
  2. It counts by itself
  3. A number comes out

And the best part

There’s a moment when you can still act. It’s while it’s happening, and it’s short.

After that, all you can do is tell the story. IRIS speaks up at that moment — camera, time and images — and whoever is on call decides what to do with it.

Tell us your problem and we’ll say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

A person answers, the same working day.
