What changes for whoever answers for the plant
In a food warehouse, being struck by a forklift is the accident that repeats most, and it is nearly always the same one: a high load that blocks the view and somebody crossing where they have always crossed. It is found out once it has happened. IRIS watches that aisle and alerts the manager as soon as a person and a forklift share the same metre, with the camera, the minute and the video. It does not stop the machine: a person decides that.

Does IRIS stop the forklift?
No. IRIS does not act on any machine: it does not brake it, does not lock it and does not send anyone anywhere. What it does is alert a person while it is happening, with the camera, the spot and the video. Who steps in and how is decided by the plant. If the warehouse already has a safety system on its forklifts, that stays in charge; IRIS adds the image and the exact minute.
Does it know how far apart the person and the forklift are?
Yes, in the image. The distance is measured on the aisle floor, using the markings already painted there, and the margin counted as too close is written by the plant, not by IRIS. A narrow picking aisle and an open manoeuvring area do not carry the same number. What it does not do is predict the impact: it reports the crossing that is happening, not one that might happen.
Does it identify the driver?
No. IRIS does not recognise faces and it reads no number plate and no machine tag. It sees a forklift and a person on foot, and reports that they passed too close. Who was driving comes from the plant's own shift record, not from the camera. The alert is there to fix the aisle, not to point at anybody.
