A wrong allergen label is not something you fix on the line: you fix it by pulling product back from the market, notifying the authority and phoning customers. And before any of that, somebody with an allergy can open that bag. Today the control is the line manager glancing over now and then, plus the paperwork of the order. IRIS looks at every bag, not one in a hundred, and compares what the label says with what the order asks for. Stopping or not stopping is still the plant's call.

Can IRIS confirm there is an allergen inside the bag?
No. IRIS reads what the label says and compares it with what the order asks for: that is something a camera can see. What is inside the pack, a trace or a microscopic residue of an allergen, is only confirmed by a laboratory test. They are two different controls and you need both. What the camera adds is the exact time, the image of the label and the video of the moment.
Does this replace the plant's quality system?
No. IRIS works alongside the quality system and the line controls: it does not manage orders, it does not release batches and it does not stop the labeller. It adds something that is missing today, which is a look at every bag rather than only the ones that fall into the sample, plus picture evidence of the exact minute the problem started.
Does IRIS recognise the operators in the room?
No. IRIS does not identify anyone: it does not recognise faces and it does not compare them against any database. It sees that there are people in the frame because knowing whether somebody is next to the machine changes what you do with the alert, and nothing more. It detects situations, such as a label that does not match, not people.
