What changes
What changes for whoever answers for the plant
A wrong pack breaks nothing: it carries on, gets filled, capped, boxed and ends up on a finished pallet. Finding it then means opening cases. IRIS flags it as it goes into the machine, with the camera, the time and the video, so a format changeover is checked with images instead of with the memory of whoever made the change.

How does IRIS know which format is the right one?
The plant tells it. The rule is written for the order that is running: this body, this label, this cap colour. Anything that does not match that description is flagged. IRIS does not decide what is correct: it compares what it sees with what the plant has said should be going through.
Is it useful for format changeovers?
Yes, and that is where it shows most. The changeover is the moment when a pack from the previous order slips through. With the camera watching the infeed, the restart is checked with images: if a pack of the old format goes by in the first minutes, the alert fires with time and video.
Does IRIS read the label text or the batch code?
Not on this camera. Here what tells the pack apart is what is visible at a glance: the shape, the cap colour and whether it carries a label or not. Reading a code needs a tight shot and a camera set up for it. What this camera adds is that a pack that does not fit stops going through without anyone knowing.
