CAM-294

An arm reaching into the isolator through the open panel

Aseptic filling area. A panel of the isolator is open and an operator has put an arm through the gap: the gloved hand is touching the vials directly, inside the barrier. On either side, the isolator glove ports are still in place, unused. Behind, the filling carousel turns with the vials moving on. Further back, another person is working at the control panel with their back turned, unaware of what is happening.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • arm inside the isolator
  • isolator panel left open
  • glove port left unused
  • filling carousel
  • operator at the control panel

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 40 stime with the panel open
  • 6vials within reach of the hand
  • 2isolator glove ports unused
  • 2people in the room
  • 10:07time of the alert

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a panel of the isolator opens and an arm enters the vial area

Then

  1. alerts the aseptic room supervisor and quality
  2. saves the video from the moment the panel opens until it closes
  3. logs the time, the duration and how many vials were in that position
The instruction that set it up«Alert me the moment anyone opens an isolator panel and reaches in where the vials are.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

A sterile barrier works as long as nobody crosses it. When a panel is opened and an arm goes in, what was inside stops being protected, and very often no record of it is left at all. IRIS sees the open panel, sees the arm inside and alerts while it is happening, with video and time. The plant decides what to do with those units, but it decides knowing what happened, how long it lasted and at exactly what time.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS know who reached into the isolator?

No. IRIS does not identify anyone and does not compare faces against any list. It detects the situation: an open panel and an arm inside the vial area. Who was in the room is answered by the plant access records, not by the camera. The alert is about what was done, never about who did it.

Does IRIS confirm that the batch has been contaminated?

No. A camera sees the gesture, not the outcome. Whether there was contamination is answered by environmental monitoring and the laboratory, and the fate of the batch is decided by quality. What IRIS adds is the evidence that the barrier was opened, at what time, for how long and what was inside at that moment.

Is that video usable as evidence in a deviation investigation?

Yes. IRIS keeps the video of the moment with its time stamp, how long the opening lasted and how many vials were in that position. It is the same material that today gets reconstructed from memory days later, available from the first minute. The conclusion and the actions still belong to the quality team and its procedures.

Simulation · how IRIS works

Watch what happens. Then watch what IRIS does with it.

Not a recorded video and not a drawing: it is a summary of the real tool, with a different case each time round. The whole tool does not fit in a box.

  1. The alert fires
  2. It lands in the tray
  3. You open it
  4. You confirm or dismiss

And the best part

The cameras you bought years agostill hold up. What they were missing was not image quality.

It was someone to look. IRIS connects to the installation you already have — same equipment, same cabling — and those images go from being stored to being understood.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
