CAM-215

A pool of foam right across the walkway

Process hall, mid-morning. A jet is coming out of a pipe on the stainless steel skid and hitting the floor, and white foam already covers half the hall: it runs from the machine on the left as far as the yellow walkway line. One operator is bent over the pipe trying to close it, another watches from the edge of the pool and a third is calling it in on the radio from the aisle. At the back the bottling line keeps running.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • foam on the floor
  • jet from the pipe
  • process skid
  • operator at the pipe
  • operator calling on the radio
  • walkway line

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 3 minSpill visible for
  • 5People in the hall
  • 1Visible leak points
  • 1Walkway lines reached
  • 10:26Time of the alert

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

liquid or foam appears on the floor of the process area and the pool is still growing seconds later

Then

  1. alert the shift manager and maintenance with the camera and the spot of the spill
  2. keep the video from the seconds before, to see where it started coming out
  3. log the time and whether the pool has reached the walkway line
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if liquid or foam builds up on the process floor, even at night with nobody around.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

A spill in a beverage plant is two problems in one: product going down the drain and a floor where somebody falls. Today it is found when somebody walks past and sees it. IRIS watches that floor all the time and alerts the shift manager with the camera, the minute and the video while the pool is still small. It closes no valve and mops up nothing: a person does that. What it brings is finding out sooner.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS know which liquid has spilled?

No. IRIS sees that there is liquid or foam on the floor, how far it spreads and whether it is still growing. What that liquid is, whether product, cleaning water or a chemical, is not something a camera can say, and it should not be sold that way. What it does do is raise the alert with the camera and the exact minute so that somebody who knows the plant can look and decide. If the composition matters, a laboratory test is needed: the image does not replace it.

Does it trigger on any pool or only on big ones?

The plant decides, not IRIS. The rule sets from what size and in which areas a pool becomes an alert: in a walkway it can trigger on very little, and under a machine that always drips it may never trigger. IRIS applies what has been written for it and does not change the threshold on its own. That is the advantage of letting the rules be written by the people who know the hall.

And if somebody slips and falls?

Yes, IRIS sees that, as long as it happens inside the frame: a person on the floor is a situation it recognises and alerts on just like the spill. What it does not do is predict the fall or say who that person is, because it does not recognise faces. It sees that somebody is lying on the process floor and at what time, sends the video, and whoever gets the alert decides what to do.

Demo · IRIS at work

You set the rule once. IRIS applies it every time.

You will see a summary of the interface, played step by step and hands-free. Each round starts with another case. The complete tool does not fit in a demo.

And the best part

IRIS only sees what the camera shows.Where we do not reach, we say so.

No software fixes a lens pointing the wrong way or covered in dust. Before promising anything, we say which cameras are in a state to see what you are asking of them.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
