What changes
What changes for whoever answers for the plant
A bottle with no cap does not stay on the line: it travels with the rest, gets wrapped onto the pallet and turns up in the customer's warehouse, wet and with the product gone. Sending a whole pallet back over one bottle is expensive, and spotting it by hand is impossible at the speed the belt runs. IRIS looks at the neck of every bottle that goes past and raises it straight away, with the picture of the bottle and the time, so it can be pulled before it reaches packing.
What people usually ask
Does it also catch a badly applied seal?
Yes, if it is visible from where the camera sits. The rule is the same: the cap is missing, the lid sits crooked, the tamper band is broken or the tray has not sealed. What it cannot do is judge the torque of a thread or the tightness of a seal; that is measured by the line's own equipment. The camera sees what is visible from outside, and it flags it while the bottle is still on the belt.
Can one slip through?
Yes, and it is worth saying so. If one bottle is hidden behind another, if the glare off the stainless steel puts the neck in backlight, or if the belt is so packed that the neck is not visible, that bottle can go unseen. IRIS does not promise to catch every one: it promises to look at every bottle for the whole shift, which is more than a person can do, and to leave the image of every alert.
Does this stop the line?
No. IRIS does not act on the machine: it does not stop it, it does not divert the bottle and it does not trigger any rejector. It sends the alert with the camera, the time and the video to whoever is standing at the line, and that person decides. If the plant wants the line stopped, its own control system does that, not the camera.
