The morning start-up is decided in the small hours, when the hall is empty and hardly anyone is left watching. If something has been left half done, it shows up with the line running and product inside. IRIS looks at the hall when the clean-down is marked as finished and reports what is still visible, with an image of the exact spot. That does not replace the lab test: it puts it in order. The obvious gets cleared before the sample is taken, and the sample is no longer wasted on a forgotten broom.

Does IRIS certify that a line is clean?
No. IRIS sees what is left in plain sight: product residue, unrinsed foam, a tool on the floor, an area nobody has touched. That is part of the clean-down, not all of it. Whether a surface is sanitised is settled by a laboratory test, with its sample and its result. IRIS comes before that: it clears the obvious so the validation is not spent finding what was already visible to the naked eye.
Can IRIS see whether the cleaning sequence was followed?
Yes, if that sequence is visible. IRIS records which areas had activity and when, and flags an area that was scheduled and got none. That lets you compare what happened against the sequence the plant lays down, with a timestamp on every step. What it cannot see is what goes on inside closed equipment, or the concentration of a chemical: those are controlled by other means.
Does the camera detect bacteria or chemical residues?
No, and it is worth saying plainly. A camera sees objects, people, liquids, foam and visible soiling. It does not see a micro-organism, an allergen or a detergent residue. That requires a laboratory test, and it should be asked for as such. IRIS contributes the image and the exact minute of what it can see, and it works alongside the quality systems, not in their place.
