What changes for whoever answers for the plant
In food, a pallet in the wrong bay is a product recall waiting to happen. If a held batch leaves with the released ones, it is found days later and it is already at the customer. Today that is caught by checks and by the shift's memory. IRIS watches the whole floor and alerts the warehouse manager as soon as a pallet ends up outside its bay, with the camera, the minute and the video of the move: where it came from and who left it there.

Does IRIS read the label and know which batch it is?
It does not need to, and it is better not to promise it. IRIS works with what can be seen from above: where each bay is painted, which pallet is inside it and which one has ended up outside. The batch number lives in the plant's own system. What IRIS brings is the camera, the exact minute and the video of the move, which is what lets you reconstruct which pallet moved and from where. It works alongside the quality systems, not instead of them.
And if the plant moves the bays?
You draw them again, and that is that. IRIS does not decide the bays: they are traced on the image, on top of the paint already on the floor, and they can be moved the day the layout changes. This is where the difference between asking and counting shows: an alert is described with a sentence, but a bay has to be drawn, because words cannot say exactly where it is.
Can it count how many pallets are in each area?
Yes, and it is one of the things a camera does best: how many pallets are in the green area and how many in the blue one, hour by hour and day by day. That is set up by drawing the area on the image, not by writing a sentence, which is why the number always comes out the same and can be checked against the video. What it does not do is decide which of those pallets may ship: that belongs to the plant's quality system.
