For the process manager, a swapped raw material is brutally expensive: a whole batch to throw away, a line clean-out and a report nobody can piece back together. With the camera the alert arrives while the operator is still coupling the hose, not once the tank has already been mixed. And there is the picture of the drum that turned up, the exact time and the order that was open at that moment.

Does IRIS know what product is inside the drum?
No. The camera sees the outside: the shape of the container, the colour, the label and which coupling the hose goes to. That is what it compares against the work order. What is inside comes from the lab analysis or the supplier’s delivery note, never from the picture. IRIS reports that the drum which arrived is not the one the order asks for, and a person decides what happens next.
And if the drum holds the right product but comes from another supplier?
It depends on the rule, and the plant writes the rule. If only one container format or one specific label is valid at that station, IRIS reports anything else. If the plant accepts several, it says nothing. IRIS does not decide what counts as an alert: it applies what the plant has written and keeps the picture so it can be reviewed later.
Does it replace the system that manages the production orders?
No. The production system knows which raw material is due and in what quantity. What it does not have is the picture of what actually reached the station. IRIS works alongside it and adds that part: the photo of the drum, the exact minute and the video of the coupling. Together they turn a suspicion into something anybody can check.
