What changes for whoever answers for the plant
A deformed IBC does not burst all at once: first it bulges, then it drips, and sometimes days go by before anyone looks closely. With the camera, the warehouse manager sees it in the same shift it appears, with the picture and the time. And at the end of the month there is a list: which units were found damaged and in which aisle of the yard. That is what you need to take to the haulier, and it is no longer an impression.
What people usually ask
Can a camera tell which product is leaking out of the IBC?
No. IRIS sees the shape of the container, the colour, the label if it is legible, and the stain on the floor. It does not say which substance it is or whether the content has reacted: that is on the delivery note, on the safety data sheet and, if needed, in a laboratory analysis. What the camera adds is the minute the container started to leak and the picture to decide what kit to go in with.
Does it pick up a small bulge, before it starts dripping?
It depends on what is visible in the shot. A caved-in side, a collapsed pallet or a leaning stack show up well from a camera four metres up. A hairline crack, or internal pressure that has not yet deformed the container, does not. IRIS does not predict: it reports what can already be seen. That is why the rule is written around what the plant can recognise in the picture, and the rest stays the job of the walk-round.
Does IRIS remove the container or close off the area?
No. IRIS does not act. It reports with the camera, the time and the video, and the yard supervisor decides. Setting out the cones, calling the spill team or stopping the unloading is done by a person. The camera provides the evidence and the exact moment it started, not the decision.
