CAM-304

Two drums with the label torn off in the marked bay

Mid-afternoon in the drum yard. Inside the bay painted with a red cross there is a yellow bund holding three containers. The white one still has its label. The two drums next to it, one blue and one green, have had theirs torn off: all that is left is a scrap of paper stuck to the steel. On the racking behind, every container carries its hazard diamond. An operator looks at the two drums without touching them.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • blue drum with the label torn off
  • green drum with the label torn
  • container with its label in place
  • bay marked with a red cross
  • operator looking at the drums
  • labelled drums in the bay marked as correct

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 2Containers with no readable label
  • 24Containers read in the area
  • 3 h 05 minTime in the marked bay
  • 1People in shot
  • 16:18Time of the reading

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a container in the area has no label or the label cannot be read

Then

  1. alert the warehouse manager with the camera, the time and the spot
  2. save the picture of the container and of the torn label
  3. count how many unidentified containers there are in the area
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if a container with no readable label turns up in the drum area.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

An unlabelled drum is a drum nobody dares to move, and it ends up costing a waste disposal for an unidentified container. With the camera, the warehouse manager finds out the same day it appears, not at the quarterly review. He has the photo of the drum, the exact spot where it stands and the time. Relabelling a drum whose origin you know takes five minutes; identifying one that has been there two months takes a laboratory analysis.

What people usually ask

Can IRIS say what was in an unlabelled drum?

No. With no label, the camera sees a blue drum and a green drum, nothing more. What is inside comes from the lab analysis or the goods-in history. What IRIS adds is that they exist: where they stand, the time they appeared and the picture of the torn label. That is enough to trace where they came from before anyone has to pay for an analysis.

Does it read what the label says?

It reads what is visible. If the label is whole and in focus, the camera makes out the hazard diamond and the block of text, and the plant can ask it to compare that with what should be in that area. If it is torn, soaked or facing away, IRIS says exactly that: it cannot be read. An honest alert is worth more than an invented one.

Does it replace the warehouse inspection?

No. A person still walks the warehouse, and there are things you only see close up. What changes is the frequency: the camera looks at that area every day and reports on the same day an unidentified container appears. The inspection stops being the moment you find out and becomes the moment you confirm it.

And the best part

Recording is memory.Understanding is attention, and that is the part you had never bought.

The recording is still kept in case you need it. What is added is that those same images are understood as they arrive, not months later and not by hand.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
