Decanting a caustic with no goggles, no gloves and no apron
Quarter past ten in the transfer bay. A worker in a short-sleeved shirt, with no goggles, no gloves and no apron, is running product through a hose into a blue caustic soda drum sitting on a yellow containment pallet. Behind him, the sign that requires goggles, gloves and an apron in that area. A few metres away, two colleagues from the same team are working in helmets, full-face masks and long gauntlets.

What IRIS understands
What it recognises in this scene
- worker without the area's kit
- open drum being filled
- containment pallet
- sign for the required kit
- colleagues with the full kit
What this camera measures
An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.
- 3people in the area
- 2people with the full kit
- 4 mintime spent transferring
- 6containers in frame
- 10:12time of the alert
The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.
The rule
You decide once. IRIS applies it always.
If
somebody handles product in the transfer bay without the kit that area requires
Then
- alerts the area supervisor and the safety officer
- saves the video from the moment the transfer started
- logs the time and which pieces of kit are missing in the image
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if anyone transfers product in this bay without the goggles, the gloves and the apron.»
What changes
What changes for whoever answers for the plant
The contrast is right there in the same picture: two people with the full kit and one without it, in the same square metre and with the same product. This does not happen out of bad faith, it happens because 'it was only a second'. The alert arrives while the hose is still open, so the supervisor can stop it before there is anything to treat. And the record feeds next month's training, with the scene in front of everyone.
What people usually ask
Does IRIS recognise the person working without protection?
No. IRIS does not identify anyone and does not compare faces against any list. It detects a situation: in this bay somebody is handling product without the goggles, gloves and apron the plant requires here. The alert says what is missing and where, not who it is. Putting a name to the person, if that is needed, is for the supervisor with the report in hand.
Can a different kit be required in each area of the plant?
Yes. Each area has its own rule, and the plant writes it. A dosing room may require a full-face mask and long gauntlets, while the corridor next door only asks for goggles. IRIS checks what it has been told for that specific spot and that operation, and does not fire in the neighbouring area because of what was asked here.
Can the camera see whether the gloves are the right ones for that product?
Not always. IRIS sees whether gloves are being worn and what type they appear to be — short, long, a certain colour — but it does not read the glove's certification and does not know whether it resists that product. The safety data sheet says that, and prevention decides it. What IRIS adds is that when there are simply no gloves, somebody finds out right away.

No extra alarms here. Just what needs looking at.
Not a recorded video, not an explanatory drawing: a summary of the real screen, with a different case every time it starts. There is a lot more behind it.
- It lands in the tray
- You open it

Next step
The prison
Who is watching the yard screen when the fight starts?
17 cases: 16 raise an alert when something happens and 1 only measure. You see each image as it is, and then with what IRIS understands on top.
The hospital
How long before somebody comes down that corridor at four in the morning?
13 cases: 12 raise an alert when something happens and 1 only measure. You see each image as it is, and then with what IRIS understands on top.
And the best part
A wall of monitors is impressive.Nobody can read forty tiles at once.
The more tiles there are, the less each one gets looked at. IRIS watches all four thousand cameras at once and points at a single one: the one that needs someone right now.
Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.
We reply the same working day.
