CAM-235

Hands inside the die with the beacon still green

Mid-afternoon in the tooling shop. An operator has climbed onto the grating platform and put both hands inside the die to free a part. The station beacon is still green: the machine has not been locked out. The tools are outside, on the blue trolley, with the wrenches and the drivers on the wooden top. Nobody is holding the control. IRIS sees that a person has entered the die area while the machine is still live.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • operator with hands inside the die
  • station beacon showing green
  • station control panel
  • tool trolley, outside the machine
  • grating platform under the operator

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 3 minTime with hands inside
  • 18 minTime with the beacon green
  • 1People in shot
  • 9Tools on the trolley
  • 16:35Time of the alert

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a person puts their hands into the die area and the beacon is still green

Then

  1. alert the maintenance manager with the camera and the exact minute
  2. save the video from the moment the person stepped onto the platform
  3. log the state of the beacon at that moment
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if someone puts their hands in the die and the beacon is not red.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

These entries leave no trace. They take twenty seconds, they work out almost every time, and nobody counts them. The maintenance manager only finds out on the day it goes wrong. With the camera he gets the alert while it is happening, the video from the moment the person stepped onto the platform, and the state of the beacon that minute. With that you can discuss the procedure with facts in front of you instead of everyone’s version.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS lock the machine if somebody reaches inside?

No. IRIS stops no machine and does not replace the interlock or the padlocked lockout, which are the only things that keep the die from moving. What IRIS does is give the alert right away when somebody has gone in with the beacon green, and save the video. Who acts and what happens next is decided by the plant.

How does IRIS know the machine has not been locked out?

From what is visible: the station beacon is green and there is no padlock or tag on the isolator. IRIS does not read the plant’s lockout register. If the plant keeps one in a system, the two can be cross-checked to see whether the times match. What IRIS contributes is the picture and the exact minute.

Is there a record of who that person was?

No. IRIS does not recognise faces and identifies nobody. It sees a situation: «somebody put their hands in the die with the beacon green», with the camera and the time. If the plant needs to know who was at that station, a person looks at the video or checks the shift sheet. That call belongs to the plant, not to the system.

See it for yourself

You set the rule once. IRIS applies it every time.

You will see a summary of the interface, played step by step and hands-free. Each round starts with another case. The complete tool does not fit in a demo.

  1. Four cameras at once
  2. Each understands its own view
  3. The numbers climb by themselves

And the best part

The door was left open at two.Finding out at nine is no use to anyone.

The video tells you at nine. IRIS says it at two, with the camera, the time and the images from that moment. The difference between the two is whether someone can go.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
