What changes for whoever answers for physical security on site
In a centre that hosts several customers, the question is not whether somebody is working: it is whether they are working where they should be. A camera on its own does not answer that, and saying otherwise would be a lie. The answer comes from two things put together: where the person is and since when, which IRIS provides, and what work order is open for that aisle at that hour, which the ticketing system provides. Today that cross-check is done by hand and afterwards, scrubbing video with a sheet of paper alongside. With both pieces together it happens while it is happening.

Does IRIS know whether that technician is at the right cabinet?
No, and that is worth saying plainly. The camera sees a person at a cabinet, in this aisle, for the last twelve minutes. Who they are and what they came to do is known to the work-order system; which customer owns that aisle is known to the site inventory. IRIS supplies the place and the clock, which is precisely the piece nobody has today. The conclusion comes from the cross-check, not from the camera, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise.
So is this really an alert at all?
It is a piece of data that becomes an alert when the site decides it should. If the procedure says that at three in the morning nobody enters that aisle without an open work order, then a presence with no open order is an alert. And if there is no rule, the data still earns its keep: the next day you know who went down each aisle and for how long, without scrubbing eight hours of video. Not everything that matters is an alarm; sometimes what matters is a number.
Is this monitoring the technician’s performance?
No, and that line is not crossed. IRIS measures places and times in an area, not a person’s work: it does not know who anyone is, it does not build a history of them and it does not compare anybody with anybody. What is measured is an aisle, exactly as a door is measured. If the data were ever used for something else, that would be the site’s decision, and it would have to be stated as plainly as this.
