CAM-347

In a T-shirt and jeans beside the live cells

Mid-morning. A man crosses the gravel of the yard, between the transformer and the switchgear, and reaches out towards the cells. He is wearing a T-shirt and jeans. No helmet, no face shield, no gloves, no arc-rated clothing. Beside him, blue arcs are visible on the switchgear. Here nobody has to decide how many people are too many: one person without protection at that distance is already the incident.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • person without protective gear
  • arcs visible on the switchgear
  • high-voltage cells
  • power transformer
  • switching cabinet

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 1 min 20 sIn the high-voltage zone for
  • 1People inside the zone right now
  • 0Items of protective gear in sight
  • 10:42Time of the alert
  • 17Days since anyone was last seen here

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a person enters the high-voltage zone and no helmet, face shield, gloves or protective clothing can be seen on them

Then

  1. alert the control room right away with the camera, the time and the video
  2. call the person in charge of work at that site on the radio
  3. keep the sequence from the moment the person enters the frame
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if anyone enters the high-voltage zone without a helmet, gloves and protective clothing, even if they are only walking through.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

An alert in the minute it happens is the difference between a call on the radio and an accident report. IRIS sees that there is a person inside the zone and that they are not wearing the gear that shows from the outside: helmet, face shield, gloves, long sleeves. And it says so with the picture right there. Whoever gets the alert makes the call, stops the job or goes in to look. The decision still belongs to a person; what changes is that they take it now and not tomorrow.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS know who that person is?

No, and it does not try to. It does not recognise faces, does not compare them against any database and does not store who anyone is. What it detects is a situation: somebody is inside the high-voltage zone and is not wearing the protective gear that should be visible. Who that person is, is worked out by whoever goes to look.

What if they are wearing the gear but it cannot be seen?

Then IRIS does not count it, and that is how it should be read. The camera only reads what shows from the outside: helmet, face shield, gloves, long sleeves. If something is hidden by the body or by a piece of equipment, the rule may raise an alert it did not need to. It is a prompt to go and look, not a verdict, and the one who closes it is the person looking at the picture.

Can IRIS cut the power when it detects this?

No. IRIS does not switch anything, does not open or close anything and does not send anyone anywhere. It raises an alert with the camera, the time and the video. Who acts, how and in what order is decided by the person responsible for that site, following their own procedures.

Simulation · how IRIS works

Not a recorded video and not a drawing: it is a summary of the real tool, with a different case each time round. The whole tool does not fit in a box.

And the best part

You do not need to buy cameras:you need yours to understand what they see.

Nothing gets built, mounted or rewired. It plugs into what is already up and running, and the only thing that changes is what those cameras understand.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
