IRIS sees facts — a cabinet standing open, cable coming out, two people in the yard, no helmets or work clothes in sight — and checks them against the jobs the company itself has declared for that day and that spot. If there is a declared job, nothing is raised. If there is not, the alert goes out with the picture. It never says anyone is stealing: it says what is being done and that nobody booked it.
Can IRIS stop it?
No. IRIS does not act: it does not lock doors, it does not set off sirens on its own, it does not operate anything and it does not phone anyone. What it does is make sure somebody finds out while it is happening rather than the next day, with material to decide on: how many people, at which spot in the compound, since what minute. Whoever calls the police, sends a crew or cuts the supply is always a person.
What is kept afterwards?
What is kept is the video of the episode with the camera, the date, the minute and the spot in the compound, plus the list of which cabinets were left open, which is exactly what the repair crew needs. What can be done with that video in any proceedings depends on how the system is declared and on the law of each country: IRIS supplies the material and the exact minute, not the legal judgement. How long it is kept is decided by the site.
