CAM-411

A lone pumping station, and the operator has not moved for nine minutes

Mid-afternoon at an isolated pumping station by the sea. There are no other buildings and no other people: a fence, a hut, two pumps and the water. An operator is sitting on the ground, propped against the wall beside the door, helmet still on and his head slumped onto his chest. He is not moving. IRIS counts how many people are inside the station and how long each of them has been without moving. Nothing else, and that is enough.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • operator sitting and motionless
  • door of the pump house
  • electrical panel of the station
  • pump set
  • discharge pipe to the sea

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 1People at the station
  • 9 minTime without movement
  • 4 h 20 minTime since another person was seen
  • 2Pumps in shot
  • 16:05Time of the alert

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

the only person present at the station stops moving for the time the plant has set

Then

  1. alert the on-call manager with the station, the camera and the time
  2. save the video from before the person stopped moving
  3. keep the alert open until a person closes it
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if the operator working alone at a station stops moving for more than two minutes.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

In a site with one person and nobody else, the alert is the difference between minutes and the following day. Without a camera, what usually happens is that someone notices when the operator does not turn up for the next round or does not answer the phone. With the alert, the manager knows which station it is, at what time he stopped moving, and can look at the picture before sending anyone forty minutes down the road.

What people usually ask

Is this a way of monitoring the person working alone?

No. IRIS identifies nobody, does not know who that person is and does not log their working day. It detects a situation: there is one person at the station and they have not moved for a while. The alert goes to the on-call manager and is closed by hand. What is watched, for how long and who receives the alert is agreed by the company before anything is installed.

And if the station has no mobile coverage and no internet?

It works just the same. The analysis runs at the station itself, on the equipment installed there, and needs no connection in order to detect. The connection is only needed to send the alert out. If the link drops, detection carries on and the alerts and the video go out when it comes back. That is why this case fits remote sites, which is exactly where it is needed most.

Isn’t the man-down device they already carry enough?

They complement each other, and it is worth having both. The personal device raises the alarm if the worker is wearing it, it is charged and it has not been left in the van. The camera does not depend on any of that, and it also delivers the picture: whoever receives the alert can see where the person is and in what position before deciding. Neither one replaces the other.

See it for yourself

A new case each time. Always the same screen.

It plays by itself and shows one case from start to finish. It is a summary: the real screen has far more functions than fit in this box.

  1. The hour, as a grid
  2. You look where it's dark
  3. You jump to that minute

And the best part

There is a moment when you can still act.It is while it is happening, and it is short.

After that, all you can do is tell the story. IRIS speaks up at that moment — camera, time and images — and whoever is on call decides what to do with it.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
