A jet is spraying from the flange and the puddle keeps growing
Mid-afternoon on the pumping apron, next to the pump house. A pressurised jet is spraying from the discharge joint and arcing over the pipe. The water already covers the slab and is moving towards the drain and the steps. The blue pump set keeps turning on its base. A crew member in a white helmet has his hands on his head, two paces from the jet. A barrier and a cone close off the side by the building.

What IRIS understands
What it recognises in this scene
- pressurised jet at the joint
- puddle spreading
- pump set
- crew member next to the leak
- floor drain
What this camera measures
An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.
- 6 mintime since the leak started
- 4flange joints under watch
- 1crew at the spot
- 2closure barriers in place
- 16:48time of the alert
The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.
The rule
You decide once. IRIS applies it always.
If
a jet appears at a joint or a puddle grows around a piece of equipment
Then
- open a warning alert for the maintenance crew on call
- save the video from the first minute of the leak
- send the still with the camera, the equipment and the time
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if a jet sprays from a joint or a puddle grows around a pump.»
What changes
What changes for whoever answers for the plant
A leak at a joint starts small and ends in a shutdown, a soaked motor or a floor nobody can walk on. Nobody sits in front of that camera. IRIS raises the alert as soon as the jet appears and the puddle starts spreading, and saves the video of the first minute. Maintenance arrives knowing which joint it is and how long it has been leaking, and tightens or replaces it before the place has to be drained.
What people usually ask
Does IRIS know how much water is being lost?
No. IRIS sees the jet, sees the puddle growing and records from what minute. The volume lost is worked out with the flow meter and the network balance. The camera provides the image and the exact time, which is what is missing when you reconstruct what happened.
Does it detect a leak in a buried pipe?
No. A camera only sees what is visible. If the water does not surface, the leak is found by district metering and acoustic equipment. Once it does surface, IRIS sees it right away and alerts with the camera, the time and the video.
Can it stop the pump on its own?
No. IRIS does not act on any equipment: it alerts and hands over the video. Stopping a pump is a person's decision, and the rule for what counts as an alert is written by the plant. IRIS works alongside the control system and brings it the image and the exact minute.

Shopping centres
What does a shopping centre see beyond the visitor count?
12 cases: 4 raise an alert when something happens and 8 only measure. You see each image as it is, and then with what IRIS understands on top.
Airports
What does an airport see before the queue forms?
14 cases: 7 raise an alert when something happens and 7 only measure. You see each image as it is, and then with what IRIS understands on top.
And the best part
There is a moment when you can still act.It is while it is happening, and it is short.
After that, all you can do is tell the story. IRIS speaks up at that moment — camera, time and images — and whoever is on call decides what to do with it.
Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.
We reply the same working day.
