CAM-434

The bunker is overflowing and waste is falling onto the road

One in the afternoon on the tipping floor. Bunker two is full to the brim: the waste rises above the top of the wall and has started falling onto the internal road, with bags and material spread twelve metres along the foot of the wall. A refuse truck with a blue body is coming down that same road towards the camera. Another truck is unloading at the back and rows of bins are lined up to the right.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • waste on the road
  • bunker filled to the top
  • refuse truck
  • bale store
  • row of bins

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 80 cmwaste above the wall
  • 12 mwidth of the spill
  • 35 mintime overflowing
  • 3trucks tipped since the alert
  • 13:05time of the alert

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

material rises above the top of the bunker or falls out onto the road

Then

  1. alert the tipping floor supervisor and the weighbridge
  2. save the video from the moment material started falling outside
  3. log the camera, the time and the trucks that have tipped since then
The instruction that set it up«Tell me when waste rises above the bunker wall or falls onto the road.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

An overflowing bunker is cleared with a loader; a blocked lane with a truck already in it is a much worse job. With the alert while it is happening, the weighbridge can send the next truck to another bunker before it comes in, and the supervisor knows how many have tipped since the material started falling. It also leaves the figure for the collection-round discussion: at what time of day that bunker really fills up, always measured against the same reference, the wall.

What people usually ask

How does IRIS measure that the bunker is overflowing?

Against a physical reference that appears in the picture: the top of the bunker wall. The camera sees how far the material rises above that line and how much has fallen onto the road. It is not an estimate: it is a measurement against something that does not move, which is why the figure can be repeated tomorrow and compared.

Can IRIS divert the trucks to another bunker?

No. IRIS alerts; it does not route trucks or open barriers. The alert reaches the weighbridge and the supervisor with the camera and the time, and they decide whether the next truck tips somewhere else or waits. Who decides, and on what grounds, is written by the plant, not by the camera.

Can I use the truck count as management data?

Yes, with one important caveat: the only thing certified by the Spanish Metrology Centre is people counting. Truck counting is not, even though the number comes from the same image and can always be audited against the video. It is a solid working figure for deciding collection rounds, not a legal measurement.

A different case every time

This isn’t a video. It’s a slice of the real screen.

A summary of the real interface, played hands-free. You see one case from start to finish; what you do not see are the other screens, and there are many.

  1. The rule gets built
  2. It goes to every camera
  3. Published, it watches alone
  4. And then it fires

And the best part

What happens in the small hoursdoes not have to wait for the morning report.

IRIS understands it there and then and tells whoever is on call, with the camera and the time. The next day there is nothing to reconstruct: it is already written down.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
