What changes
What changes for whoever answers for the plant
That lane only matters on one day, and on that day it matters completely. If a fire engine cannot reach the hydrant, a fire in one pile of waste becomes a fire in the whole plant. It is also the first thing an inspection looks at. The camera watches the painted strip, not the rest of the yard: when something stays there longer than the plant has allowed, it alerts with picture and time, and at month end it leaves the count of how many hours that lane was blocked.
What people usually ask
Isn’t painting the ground enough?
No. Paint reminds people where nothing may be left, but it does not warn anybody when somebody leaves something there. An emergency lane gets blocked in five minutes, with the best of intentions, and stays that way all shift because nobody is looking. The camera looks only at that strip and only at that question: is it clear? When it stops being clear, somebody knows while it can still be moved.
Does it alert every time a truck crosses the strip?
No, not if the plant does not want that. Crossing is not blocking: the rule carries a time, and until that time is up there is no alert. A truck driving straight through generates nothing; a skip that has been there two hours does. The plant sets that time, because it differs from site to site, and it can be changed without touching the camera.
Is it any use for an inspection or for the emergency plan?
Yes, as evidence of what happened. The camera leaves the count of hours with the lane blocked, the time of each case and the video, and that is material you can put on the table. IRIS certifies nothing and does not replace a self-protection plan: it supplies the picture and the exact minute so the plan is written on data rather than on memories.
