A near miss leaves no paperwork. Nobody writes it down because nothing happened, and the same crossing repeats it twenty times a month until the day it goes wrong. With the camera, the safety manager has the list of the places where people jump clear, with time and video. That is where you really decide whether you need a mirror, a barrier or a change of traffic direction. You fix the place, not the person.

How does IRIS know it was a near miss?
Because a person and a forklift entered the same zone drawn over the image at the same time. That zone is traced by the warehouse over the crossing: it is not a sentence, it is an outline. IRIS does not measure intent and does not calculate risk; it sees two things that should not coincide there and raises the alert. Whether it was a scare or a normal manoeuvre is answered by the video, saved with the alert.
Does it identify the driver or read the forklift number?
It does neither. IRIS does not read forklift plates and does not recognise faces: it works with zones drawn over the image. It sees «a forklift and a person in the same crossing», not «truck seven, driven by so-and-so». If the warehouse wants to know who was on it, it cross-checks the video with its own shift sheet. The camera supplies the place, the time and the picture; the name does not come from here.
Can it stop the forklift?
No. IRIS alerts, it does not drive and it does not brake: it sends no signal to the vehicle. The alert reaches a person with the camera, the time and the video, and that person decides what happens. What does change is that dangerous crossings stop being a feeling the morning shift has and become a list of places, times and counts — which is what you can actually act on.
