CAM-266

Twenty-two units go out and the order says twenty-four

Mid-afternoon at the outbound dock. The curtain-side trailer is half loaded, with its door open. On the ground beside the truck, two pallets of boxes have been left behind. A supervisor with a tablet looks at them and counts. Two operators are arguing beside the warehouse door. An orange forklift arrives with another pallet. IRIS does not interpret the argument: it counts, one by one, the units that cross the loading line.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • two pallets left behind on the ground
  • supervisor counting with the tablet
  • units already loaded in the trailer
  • operators talking by the door
  • forklift arriving with the next pallet

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 22Units counted on the line
  • 9Pallets loaded
  • 2Pallets left on the ground by the truck
  • 31 minLoading time
  • 17:40Closing time

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

loading closes and the units counted on the line do not match those on the order

Then

  1. alert the shipping supervisor with the counted figure and the one on the order
  2. save the video of every unit that crossed the line, with its time
  3. keep the dock count logged hour by hour, whether it matches or not
The instruction that set it up«Count the units crossing this dock’s door and tell me at closing whether they match the order.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

Asking is for finding. Counting is for measuring. And they are not done the same way. A line cannot be described in a sentence: it has to be drawn on the image, always in the same place, which is why today’s number and tomorrow’s can be compared. The shipping manager gets the dock count against the order, with the time of every unit and the video of the one that is missing. The argument now has pictures.

What people usually ask

Why is counting set up by drawing instead of talking?

Because a line cannot be described in a sentence. Asking is for finding; counting is for measuring, and they are not done the same way. The counting line is drawn on top of the image, always in the same place, and that is why today’s number and tomorrow’s are comparable. That number is repeatable and can be audited frame by frame.

Can the camera’s number be checked?

Yes. Every counted unit has its second of video. If somebody disputes the figure, you open the recording and count them again, one by one. The limit is worth saying out loud: the only thing certified by the Spanish Metrology Centre is people counting. Unit counting is not, but it is drawn the same way and reviewed the same way.

Does IRIS know whether the missing unit stayed on the ground or never arrived?

Only what it sees. The camera counts what crosses the line and sees the pallets left on the dock floor. If a unit never reached the dock, that is for the picking camera or the warehouse system to say. Each camera answers for its own frame, and the times line up because they all run off the same clock.

Demo · IRIS at work

No extra alarms here. Just what needs looking at.

Not a recorded video, not an explanatory drawing: a summary of the real screen, with a different case every time it starts. There is a lot more behind it.

  1. The alert fires
  2. It lands in the tray
  3. You open it
  4. You confirm or dismiss

And the best part

You have paid for years to store video.Nobody has ever watched it.

Recording is not understanding. The footage is still kept in case you need it, but you no longer have to sit through it to know what happened.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
