What changes for whoever answers for the plant
A mislabelled pallet that goes onto the truck comes back whole, and a claim comes back with it. And if what got mixed up is blocked stock with released stock, the problem stops being a logistics one. The dispatch manager cannot check pallet by pallet at six in the evening. The camera can: it looks at all nine, sees the one that does not fit and raises the alert while the pallet is still on the floor, with the picture and the time.

Does IRIS read the batch number on the label?
Yes, if the label is facing the camera and readable in enough detail: then it compares what it says with the order currently running. If the pallet is turned away or the label is covered, no. What IRIS always sees is that one label is not the same as the ones next to it, and that alone is enough to hold the pallet before it goes onto the truck.
Does it help keep blocked stock apart from released stock?
Yes, when the two can be told apart by eye: a different coloured label, a seal, a wrap, or a painted area on the floor. IRIS sees a pallet carrying the blocked marking sitting in the released area and raises the alert. What it cannot do is know the status of a pallet that looks identical to the one beside it: that comes from the quality system.
Does IRIS stop the forklift from taking the pallet?
No. IRIS alerts, it does not act: it does not stop a forklift or lock a door. It sends the picture of the pallet, the time and the camera to whoever the plant has decided, and from there a person decides. And it does not identify anyone either: it sees a pallet that does not fit, not who put it there.
