CAM-258

An electrical panel open at eleven at night

Almost eleven at night. The plant is still producing: a forklift crosses the aisle with a pallet and there are operators at two machines. By the column, somebody with their hood up has opened the electrical cabinet door and has both hands on the terminal board. The red indicator at the top is lit. There is no padlock, no tag and nobody else nearby. IRIS sees that this panel is open outside a scheduled intervention.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • person with hands on the panel
  • cabinet door standing open
  • terminal board exposed
  • red indicator on the panel
  • loaded forklift on the move
  • operator at his station

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 3 min 05 sTime the cabinet has been open
  • 22:47Time it was opened
  • 6People in shot
  • 2Times this cabinet was opened today
  • 3Equipment running in shot

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a cabinet door opens outside the agreed intervention window

Then

  1. alert the maintenance manager with the camera and the time
  2. save the video from thirty seconds before the door opened
  3. time how long the cabinet stays open
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if anybody opens an electrical cabinet outside a scheduled intervention.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

A cabinet open at night can be a technician fixing a fault, or a parameter change nobody asked for. With footage, the difference is cleared up in two minutes; without it, in three days. With the camera, the maintenance manager gets the alert while the door is still open, with the time and the video. Then he decides: call, let it be, or walk down and look.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS know whether that person had permission?

No. IRIS sees that a cabinet door has been opened and at what time; it does not know who that person is or what authorisation they carry. What the plant can do is write the window: which days and hours an intervention is planned on that cabinet. Outside that window, it alerts. Inside it, it does not.

Does this identify people?

No. There is no facial recognition and no comparison against any database. The detection is “there is a person in front of an open cabinet”, not “it is this person”. Who it was gets settled afterwards, with the video, the access log and somebody looking at it. That part is not done by a camera.

Does the same work for plant racks and control desks?

Yes, it is the same rule with a different zone drawn. It works for control cabinets, racks, machine desks and any point that is only touched during an intervention. All that changes is the piece of image being watched and the time band. The camera does not read what is typed: it sees that somebody is standing there and for how long.

Demo · IRIS at work

You set the rule once. IRIS applies it every time.

You will see a summary of the interface, played step by step and hands-free. Each round starts with another case. The complete tool does not fit in a demo.

  1. Four cameras at once
  2. Each understands its own view
  3. The numbers climb by themselves

And the best part

There are nights of thick fogwhen the image gives you nothing. We do not dress that up.

Backlight, heavy rain, a street lamp that has blown. IRIS works with what the camera puts in front of it; when there is no image, it says so instead of inventing an answer.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
