The guard door is open and there are hands inside the machine
Afternoon shift in the moulding shop. The yellow guard gate is wide open. An operator has stepped through the gap and is reaching towards the mould area, between the machine tie bars. The machine is not stopped: parts keep coming out onto the conveyor. Three other colleagues are working nearby and none of them can see what is happening behind the fence.

What IRIS understands
What it recognises in this scene
- operator inside the machine
- guard gate open
- mould area
- cell fence
- machine control panel
What this camera measures
An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.
- 38 stime with the door open
- 17:12time it was opened
- 1people inside the guarded area
- 4people in frame
- 8parts on the outfeed conveyor
The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.
The rule
You decide once. IRIS applies it always.
If
the guard is open and a person enters the mould area
Then
- raise a critical alert in the control room
- save the video from the moment the door opened
- leave the image with the exact time for the safety report
The instruction that set it up«Alert me straight away if someone comes through the guard gate or reaches into the mould area while the machine is not locked out.»
What changes
What changes for whoever answers for the plant
The guard exists so that nobody can reach the mould while the machine can still move. If the door is left open and someone steps in, the risk stops being theoretical. IRIS raises the alert while it is happening, not in the investigation afterwards: the supervisor gets the camera, the time and the video. What happens next is decided by a person, following the plant procedure. IRIS does not stop the machine and does not file a report.
What people usually ask
Can IRIS stop the machine?
No. IRIS raises the alert; stopping the machine is the plant decision and is carried out by the plant own systems. What IRIS adds is the warning while it is happening, with the camera, the time and the video of that moment.
Is it useful if the door already has an interlock?
Yes. The interlock acts on that one door; the camera sees everything else: a person coming in another way, a guard that has been removed, or one that somebody has bypassed. They are two different layers and they add up.
Does IRIS know who went in?
No, and it does not try to. IRIS detects that a person entered the guarded area with the guard open. It does not recognise faces or match them against anything. Who it was and why is settled by the supervisor and the report, not by the camera.

The real interface, step by step
No extra alarms here. Just what needs looking at.
Not a recorded video, not an explanatory drawing: a summary of the real screen, with a different case every time it starts. There is a lot more behind it.

Critical infrastructure
Who is watching a site where there is almost never anybody?
44 cases, and in every one of them IRIS raises an alert when something happens. You see each image as it is, and then with what it understands on top.

Why did the line stop?

And the best part
You can ask which van came in yesterday.Who was inside is not a question you ask here.
IRIS searches for things and situations, not people: it identifies nobody and recognises no faces. You write what you are looking for and it returns the matching minutes.
