What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

Vegetation gives no warning: it grows slowly and gets noticed when the line trips or when the annual inspection comes round. With the camera, the maintenance manager sees the day the branch came inside and how it has advanced week by week. He can send the clearing crew to this site and not to the four that are clean. And once it is cut back, the same camera keeps the image of the clear yard, which becomes the new reference.

What people usually ask

Can a camera see vegetation getting close to the line?

Yes. The camera always looks at the same framing, so it compares today’s image with one from months ago and sees what has changed. A branch pushing into the yard, scrub climbing the wall or creepers over the equipment show up as a clear difference. The alert arrives with today’s picture and the picture of the same spot when it was clear, so the growth is obvious at a glance.

Does IRIS measure the exact distance between the branch and the conductor?

No. The camera sees that vegetation has come inside the yard and that it touches or brushes the equipment, and shows it with an image and a time. The electrical clearance is set by the regulations and checked by the maintenance crew on site. IRIS is there to tell you which site to visit first, not to replace that measurement.

Is it useful for planning the clearing work?

Yes. With a daily image of the same framing you can see which sites are getting overgrown and which are not. That lets you send the crew where it is needed instead of touring every site by calendar. After the cut-back, the same camera keeps the image of the clear yard, and that picture becomes the new reference for every comparison from then on.
