What changes
What changes for whoever answers for the plant
The plant manager can see output is down, but the meter does not tell him which row to look at or since when. The camera does: it shows which rows have changed, how many modules are broken and the day they appeared that way. The crew goes straight to the spot with replacement panels, and a claim can be made with the before and after image. The count is validated against the production data of each string.

Can a camera count the broken panels in a solar field?
Yes, the ones it can see. From a fixed point it counts the modules with chipped glass, the ones shifted out of place and the gaps where a panel is missing, and it compares one row with the ones beside it in the same image. That number is repeatable: same camera, same framing, same count every day. Panels hidden behind another row are not included, and the report says so.
Does it detect a panel that produces less but looks fine?
No. A panel with a degraded cell or a bad connection can look perfect from the outside. That is answered by the production data of each string and by thermography. IRIS detects visible damage — broken glass, dirt, modules moved out of place or new shading — and is useful for explaining a drop in output that the data has already flagged.
Do you need a drone to inspect the field?
For the detail of each cell, yes. To know what has changed since yesterday, no: a fixed camera looks at the same field every day and raises the alert the same day the damage appears, not during next year’s drone campaign. The two work together; the camera says when and where it is worth flying.
