CAM-358

The control desk has been unattended for twenty minutes

Four in the morning in the substation control room. The mimic displays are still alive: six screens on across the desk and the wall behind, lines and curves moving. Both chairs are empty and turned towards the desk. On the cabinet to the right there is a hard hat and some paperwork. Through the window you can see the transformer. The room is working; the desk is not.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • operator chair empty
  • second chair empty
  • desk consoles still running
  • mimic wall still active
  • hard hat left on the cabinet

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 0people in the room
  • 2desk chairs empty
  • 21 mintime with nobody at the desk
  • 6screens on in the room
  • 04:05time of the alert

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

the desk is left with nobody for longer than agreed, inside the time band the company marked as attended

Then

  1. opens an alert with the room, the time and how long it has been empty
  2. notifies the shift manager on the agreed channel, and nobody else
  3. records the gap, with nobody's name attached, for the procedure review
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if between ten at night and six in the morning the control room desk is left with nobody for more than fifteen minutes.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

The company decided that in this time band this desk is attended. If it stops being attended, whoever is in charge wants to know tonight. IRIS reports that nobody is there: it could be a handover running long, a call out to the yard, or someone taken ill, and all three need a phone call. The alert arrives with the room, the time and the video, and the person who answers decides. None of this is switched on without agreeing it first with the workforce representatives.

What people usually ask

Is this monitoring employees?

No, and the difference matters. IRIS sees that a desk is empty; it does not know who should be there, it recognises nobody and it measures nobody's performance. The rule — which desk, which time band, how many minutes — is written by the company, agreed with the workforce representatives before anything is switched on, and explained to the people who work there.

What does IRIS keep from an alert like this?

The gap, and little else: the room, the start time, how long it lasted and the video of that moment. It keeps no per-person history and no comparison between shifts, because it does not know who anyone is. And if the company prefers not to keep even the video, the alert can be reduced to the gap alone.

And if the person was in the room but outside the frame?

Yes, it can happen, and that is why the alert concludes nothing. The desk is drawn on the image: if someone is in the room but outside that area, IRIS counts the desk as empty. That is why the rule carries a margin in minutes, and why the alert always asks a person to confirm before anything is acted on.

Simulation · how IRIS works

We won't just tell you. We'll show you.

It is a summary of the real screen: it plays by itself, step by step, and shows only the path of one case. The actual tool has far more than fits in here.

  1. You draw the line
  2. It counts by itself
  3. A number comes out

And the best part

The cameras you bought years agostill hold up. What they were missing was not image quality.

It was someone to look. IRIS connects to the installation you already have — same equipment, same cabling — and those images go from being stored to being understood.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
