CAM-378

The hood is raised and the fume goes round it

Mid-afternoon in the casting bay. The extraction hood is up, hanging a couple of metres above the hot line. Underneath, the glowing charge keeps moving along the trough and throws off a plume that never enters the hood: it rises straight up in front of it and drifts towards the roof. Three people are watching from the floor and one is pointing up. IRIS sees where the hood is and where the fume is going.

What IRIS understands

What it recognises in this scene

  • plume rising outside the hood
  • extraction hood raised
  • glowing charge in the trough
  • supervisor pointing at the hood
  • two operators watching from the floor

What this camera measures

An alert says something is happening. The reading says how much.

  • 6 minTime with fume outside capture
  • 9 minTime with the hood raised
  • 4Times today
  • 3People in shot
  • 18:52Time

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client's measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

there is a visible plume over the line and the hood is not lowered over the emission point

Then

  1. alert the maintenance manager with the camera and the time
  2. save the video from the hood going up until it returns to place
  3. add up the shift’s minutes of emission outside capture
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if fume comes off the line while the hood is raised, and tell me how many minutes it was like that.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

Whether the hood is where it should be is a perfect visual check for a camera: either you see it or you do not, and you see it from a distance. And that is exactly what separates a plant with an environmental case open against it from one without. The maintenance manager stops finding out through a neighbour’s complaint or an inspection: he finds out the same day, with the time, the video and the minutes the line spent emitting outside capture.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS measure what comes out of the stack?

No. A camera sees the plume and sees whether the hood is in place; it does not analyse composition or concentration. That comes from the plant’s analysers. What IRIS contributes is the exact minute of emission outside capture and the video that shows it.

Does it count as evidence in an inspection?

It counts as your own record, with time, image and duration, and that is already far more than most plants have. IRIS is designed to help you comply; it does not certify an environmental measurement. The official figure comes from equipment approved for it. The only thing in IRIS approved by the Spanish Metrology Centre is people counting.

What if the hood is raised for an operational reason?

Then it is not an alert, and the plant decides that. The rules are written by whoever runs the line: you can allow the hood up during charging and only raise an alert past the agreed number of minutes. IRIS applies the rule it is given; it does not invent it or change it on its own.

The real interface, step by step

We won't just tell you. We'll show you.

It is a summary of the real screen: it plays by itself, step by step, and shows only the path of one case. The actual tool has far more than fits in here.

  3. Follows the same plate

And the best part

Stop scrubbing through six hours.Ask what happened and watch only that.

You type what you are looking for in plain words — a white van, a door left open — and the moments it appears come back. What used to take an afternoon now takes minutes.

Tell us your problem and we will say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

We reply the same working day.
