What changes for whoever answers for the site
This is not a safety problem, it is a traceability and cost problem. Waste tipped outside its bay gets mixed with what it should not be mixed with, and from that moment nobody knows what was in that heap or where it came from. On top of that, somebody has to move it again with the loader, and the plant pays for that trip. Today it gets seen if the supervisor happens to be standing there, and often he is not. IRIS flags the tipping while it is happening, with the camera and the video, and the plant manager can stop it instead of discovering it the next day through a heap that should not be there.

Who decides where tipping is allowed?
The plant. The bays, the clear areas and the time window for each waste stream are drawn onto the image by the operator of the site, and they can be changed whenever the operation changes. IRIS has no opinion of its own about where anything goes: it applies what has been drawn for it, and that is why the alert means something when it fires.
Does IRIS read the truck's plate to know whose load it is?
No. IRIS does not read number plates and it identifies neither people nor companies. What it gives you is the camera, the time and the video of the tipping; with that the plant cross-checks the weighbridge docket, which is where the record of who came in actually lives. That cross-check is done by the plant with its own data, not by the camera.
Isn't the weighbridge enough to catch this?
The weighbridge tells you how much came in, not where it was dropped. Those are two different facts, and the second one is the one that gets lost: a truck weighs in perfectly and then tips where it should not, because the driver was in a hurry or because the bay was occupied an hour ago. This camera only covers that gap, and it replaces nothing that is already recorded.
