  2. repeat the alert every time it climbs another step of the ones the operator has set
  3. keep the day's series, so the curve is there when the operation has to be explained

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the site

This camera is not about security, it is about operations. Knowing the water has passed a mark is what decides a gate operation, and a mark without its curve does not tell you whether to act: seventy-eight centimetres is alarming or not depending on what it read six hours ago and how fast it is rising. What changes with IRIS is that the reading also exists at points where there is no instrumentation, at the hour when there is nobody there. And the limit, spelled out: this is a reading against a visible physical reference — the threshold of the hut door — not a water-level gauge, and it does not replace the dam's instrumentation. It is one more check, with a picture behind it.

Who decides what the warning mark is?

The site operator, always. IRIS does not set marks, does not know what this dam's mark is and has no basis for choosing one. It is told which physical reference to watch, at what height above it to raise the alert, and how often to repeat it while the level keeps rising. Changing that mark means changing a number, not rebuilding anything.

Does it warn before the water gets there?

No. IRIS does not predict. It reads what is happening: how high the water is now and how fast it has risen over the last few hours. You decide with those two things, but the decision belongs to a person. Anyone promising that a camera announces a flood is promising something they cannot deliver.
