If a pack is married to the wrong body, the error doesn’t surface until somebody asks for the traceability record, and by then the car is on a ship. Doing the comparison at the station, with the body right there, turns a warranty claim into a two-minute cart swap. The quality manager is also left with the picture of both labels together and the exact time, which is precisely what an audit asks for.

Does IRIS identify the people at the station?
No. What happens here’s that a code printed on a part label is read and compared with the production order. That’s reading a number off a card, not recognizing anybody. IRIS doesn’t compare faces against any database and doesn’t know who the operator in the picture is: it only sees that there’s a person scanning at the station.
What happens if the label is dirty or bent?
If the code can’t be read, it isn’t invented. IRIS reports that it couldn’t read it and leaves the image, so somebody reads it by hand or replaces the label. A failed-read alert is useful because it gets sorted at the station; a guessed number isn’t, because it surfaces months later when there’s nothing left to look at.
Does this replace the plant’s traceability system?
No. The traceability system remains the one in charge and the one that stores the final pairing. IRIS works alongside it: it supplies the picture of both labels together and the exact minute of the read. In an audit, that photo is the proof that the comparison was made at the station, with the body right there, and not on paper months later.
