CAM-426

The pile is growing on the wrong side of the fence

Six in the evening. The entrance barrier is down. A white van has stopped outside the site with both rear doors open, and someone is unloading household waste and stacking it against the fence: washing machines, boards, an armchair, rubble and black bags. A hundred feet away, inside, are the dumpsters where that material could be left at no cost. IRIS sees a vehicle stopped outside the tipping area and items piling up on the ground.

What IRIS understands

What it recognizes in this scene

  • person unloading outside the permitted area
  • van stopped outside the site
  • pile of bulky waste against the fence
  • entrance barrier, down
  • dumpsters in the authorized area

What this camera measures

An alert says something’s happening. The reading says how much.

  • 9items unloaded
  • 3 mintime stopped
  • 1people
  • 1vehicles
  • 18:05time of the alert

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client’s measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a vehicle stops outside the tipping area and material starts piling up on the ground

Then

  1. alert the gatehouse with the camera and the time
  2. save the video from the moment the vehicle stops until it leaves
  3. file the alert in case the clean-up has to be claimed later
The instruction that set it up«Alert me if anyone unloads material outside the site, on the shoulder or against the fence, in or out of opening hours.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

The pile ends up being cleared by the plant, and paid for by the plant. If nobody sees it, it turns up on Monday and no one even knows when it happened. With the alert while it’s happening, the guard can go out while the van is still there. And if he doesn’t make it in time, there’s video with the time, the vehicle and the pile growing. That video is what supports a claim or a complaint; without it, there’s just a heap of trash with no owner.

What people usually ask

Is the recording useful for claiming back the clean-up cost?

Yes, as evidence of what can be seen. There’s video from the moment the vehicle stops until it leaves, with the camera, the date and the time. It shows a vehicle stopped outside the tipping area and material piling up on the ground. What’s done with that afterward — a warning, a claim or a complaint — is decided by the plant, not by IRIS.

Does IRIS identify the person unloading?

No. IRIS does not recognize faces or match them against any database. What it detects is a situation: a vehicle stopped outside the permitted area and items appearing on the ground by the fence. The alert contains a camera, a time and a video. There’s no name in it, and there won’t be one.

Does it work at night or when the site is closed?

Yes, as long as the camera can see. With the area lighting or with a camera made for low light, the rule is the same at three in the morning as at six in the evening. And that’s exactly when it is needed: off-zone dumping tends to happen with the site closed, which is when nobody is in front of a monitor.

The real interface, step by step

We won’t just tell you. We’ll show you.

It’s a summary of the real screen: it plays by itself, step by step, and shows only the path of one case. The actual tool has far more than fits in here.

  1. You draw the line
  2. It counts by itself
  3. A number comes out

And the best part

Finding something in yesterday’s videoshould take as long as asking for it.

No more scrubbing back through six hours with your finger on the mouse. You type what you’re after, in plain words, and the matching moments come up. Same cameras as always.

Tell us your problem and we’ll say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

A person answers, the same working day.
