Bare arms in the pump area

A sunny morning in the pump area. Three workers wear blue flame-resistant coveralls, white hard hats and gloves. In the middle of the walkway stands someone with bare arms and legs: they have a hard hat, but no flame-resistant clothing. To their left, orange drums are stacked with the flammable-goods diamond on the side, and behind them a green vessel carries the same label. One of the workers is already pointing at them. The camera sees the kit that’s missing.

What IRIS understands

What it recognizes in this scene

  • person without flame-resistant clothing
  • worker pointing at him
  • worker in flame-resistant coveralls
  • worker with the shift clipboard
  • drums labeled flammable
  • vessel labeled flammable

What this camera measures

An alert says something’s happening. The reading says how much.

  • 1 min 20 sTime in the area
  • 4People in the area
  • 3Wearing flame-resistant clothing
  • 1Without flame-resistant clothing
  • 09:47Time of the alert

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client’s measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a person is in the pump area without the flame-resistant clothing that area requires

Then

  1. open the alert with the camera, the time and the video of the moment
  2. notify the area supervisor and the control room
  3. keep the image for the shift safety report
The instruction that set it up«Tell me if anyone enters the pump area without flame-resistant clothing.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

Nine in the morning, and that person has walked in to hand over a form: two minutes, they reckon. In an area with flammable product, flame-resistant clothing is what separates a scare from a burn. The alert reaches the shift supervisor while they’re still in the walkway, with the camera, the time and the video. IRIS sees that the equipment is missing, not who is wearing it: it does not recognize faces or compare them with anything. Which PPE is mandatory in each area is decided by the plant, and taking someone out of there’s decided by a person.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS identify the person without flame-resistant clothing?

No. IRIS sees that the kit is missing, not who is wearing it. It does not recognize faces and does not compare them with any database. The alert says one person without flame-resistant clothing in the pump area, and attaches the video. Who it was is checked by a person, if needed, against the plant access log.

Does this work for any item of PPE?

Yes, as long as it can be seen from outside. Hard hat, vest, gloves, face protection, flame-resistant clothing: if the camera can tell it apart, IRIS can check it. What can’t be seen isn’t detected: if a personal gas detector is under a jacket, the camera doesn’t confirm it. And where there’s doubt, we say there’s doubt.

Does it alert every time somebody walks past?

No, not if the rule is set up properly. The area, the minimum time inside and the hours when it applies are all tuned. Someone crossing the edge for two seconds raises nothing; someone who stays and works there does. What counts as an alert is decided by the plant, not by IRIS.

Simulation · how IRIS works

You set the rule once. IRIS applies it every time.

You will see a summary of the interface, played step by step and hands-free. Each round starts with another case. The complete tool doesn’t fit in a demo.

And the best part

You decide the rule onceand it’s applied the same way every time.

At three in the morning it means what it means at noon, on camera one and on camera four thousand. It doesn’t depend on who’s on shift, or how tired they are.

Tell us your problem and we’ll say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

A person answers, the same working day.
