A loaded truck slipping past the truck scale

Early morning at the quarry control point. There’s a line in the left lane: a truck is stopped on the truck scale and the barrier is still down. On the right, a truck loaded with boulders leaves through the lane painted as an unauthorized area, past the no-entry sign. Two workers watch it go by from the shoulder. IRIS sees a loaded vehicle leaving the site without having passed the registration point.

What IRIS understands

What it recognizes in this scene

  • loaded truck leaving without being weighed
  • control point booth
  • truck on the truck scale
  • no-entry sign
  • barrier at the control point
  • line of trucks waiting their turn

What this camera measures

An alert says something’s happening. The reading says how much.

  • 2 minTime since it passed the truck scale
  • 14Trucks weighed in the last hour
  • 3Unweighed exits counted today
  • 5Trucks waiting in line
  • 09:20Time of the pass

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client’s measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a loaded vehicle leaves the site without crossing the weighing point

Then

  1. alert the quarry manager with the camera, the time and the plate
  2. save the video from the moment the truck enters the unauthorized lane
  3. add the trip to the day’s count so it can be reconciled with the truck scale
The instruction that set it up«Tell me when a loaded truck leaves the quarry without crossing the truck scale, and keep the plate for me.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

The gap between what leaves and what was weighed shows up weeks later, in the inventory count, when nobody remembers that Tuesday. With the camera, the quarry manager has the time of the pass, the plate that was read and the video of the truck leaving where it shouldn’t. It stops being a difference on a spreadsheet and becomes one specific trip, with footage. And trips can be counted every day, not once a year.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS know how much the load weighs?

No. The truck scale gives the weight, and that’s what it is for. What IRIS does is count the trips that leave and compare them with the ones that were weighed. If one more truck goes out than went through the control point, there’s an unregistered trip. It’s a count, not an estimate: every pass keeps its time and its video, and the gap shows up the same day.

What if a vehicle is allowed to leave that way?

You exclude it and it stops alerting. Who may use that lane is decided by the quarry, not by the camera. The exception is written down —a vehicle type, a time window, a list of plates— and everything else keeps alerting. IRIS doesn’t write the rules: it applies them and keeps a record of every pass, the allowed ones included.

Can it stop the truck?

No. IRIS alerts, it doesn’t act. It doesn’t lower a barrier or stop anyone on its own: it sends the alert with the image to whoever has to decide. If the quarry wants the barrier to close by itself, that’s wired to its access control system and a person authorizes it. The camera supplies the moment and the proof.

Simulation · how IRIS works

Everything comes in. Only what matters gets through.

This sums up what IRIS does with one alert, from the moment it appears until it’s closed. The real screen holds far more; this is the main thread.

  1. Cameras on the map
  2. You draw an area
  3. What passed shows up

And the best part

You decide once what matters to you.It stops depending on who happens to be on shift.

You say it in your own words and it stays written down. Nobody has to remember anything at the start of a shift: what you decided is already in place, and still there tomorrow.

Tell us your problem and we’ll say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

A person answers, the same working day.
