Rack hits almost never get reported. Whoever caused it carries on working, and the upright stays bent until the day it gives way with twenty-five thousand pounds on top. With the camera, the warehouse manager gets the alert while it’s happening, with the aisle, the time and the video of the hit. He can close the bay, call the inspection and see whether it was a scrape or a real impact. He stops depending on somebody owning up.

Does IRIS say whether the racking is still safe?
No. IRIS sees the impact, marks the time and saves the video: that tells you where it happened, which truck was there and how hard the hit looks. Whether the structure holds or the bay has to be emptied is decided by the inspection your own procedure calls for. What the camera changes is that the inspection gets requested the same day, not three months later when nobody remembers the hit.
Does it know which forklift it was?
Not by its number or its driver. IRIS does not read forklift plates and does not identify anybody: it works with zones drawn over the image. What it delivers is the video of the moment, with the truck in frame, the aisle and the exact minute. With that the warehouse checks its own shift sheet and knows who was there. The camera supplies the evidence; the name comes from the organization.
Can it stop the forklift before the impact?
No. IRIS alerts, it doesn’t drive and it doesn’t brake: it sends no command to the truck and it doesn’t predict the impact. It detects what’s already happening and puts it in front of a person right away. What happens next — closing the aisle, emptying the bay, calling maintenance — is decided by the warehouse. That’s the difference between a system that alerts and one that acts: here there’s always a person in between.
