CAM-316

A person on the ground outside the laboratory

Early afternoon in the yard by the auxiliary laboratory. A person is lying face up on the concrete, hard hat beside their head and arms out to the sides. They aren’t moving. A colleague walks toward them from the right; further back, a forklift and a third person. Behind, the acid tank and the solvent drums. IRIS doesn’t know what happened: it sees a person horizontal where a person should be upright, and it starts timing.

What IRIS understands

What it recognizes in this scene

  • person lying still
  • colleague approaching
  • emergency shower and eyewash
  • laboratory door open
  • acid tank in the yard
  • forklift in the yard

What this camera measures

An alert says something’s happening. The reading says how much.

  • 46 sTime motionless
  • 3People in the yard
  • 18 sTime until the first colleague
  • 1Person-down alerts today
  • 13:52Time of the alert

The figures on this screen are an example from the illustration, not any client’s measurement.

The rule

You decide once. IRIS applies it always.

If

a person ends up lying on the yard floor and stays motionless for a few seconds

Then

  1. alert the control room with the camera, the time and the spot in the yard
  2. put the live view of the yard on the main screen
  3. save the video from thirty seconds before the fall
The instruction that set it up«Alert me as soon as you see somebody lying on the yard floor and not getting up.»

What changes

What changes for whoever answers for the plant

Here the only thing that counts is seconds. If nobody is watching that screen, a person on the ground can stay there until somebody happens to walk past. The alert goes out while it’s happening, with the camera, the exact spot in the yard and the video from the moment they went down. Whoever is in the control room knows where to send people and what was around: the tank, the drums, the forklift. And the video carries the report afterward.

What people usually ask

Does IRIS know why the person went down?

No. A camera sees that somebody is on the ground and not moving; it doesn’t see whether it was a trip, a dizzy spell or a vapor. Nor does it identify anyone or match faces against any list. What it delivers is the alert while it’s happening, the spot in the yard and the video of what came before. The cause is established by whoever attends the person and whoever investigates afterward.

Does IRIS mistake somebody crouching for a person down?

It can happen, and that’s why the rule carries a time. Crouching to read a label lasts a few seconds; staying flat doesn’t. The plant sets how many seconds must pass before the alert fires and in which areas the rule applies. Tuning that time is the difference between an alert people act on and an alert nobody looks at.

Does IRIS call the ambulance?

No. IRIS alerts; acting is a person’s decision. The camera puts the alert, the live picture and the exact minute in front of whoever is in the control room, and that person triggers the plant emergency procedure. The decision is human on purpose: the responder knows what’s around and what kit is needed.

Simulation · how IRIS works

This isn’t a video. It’s a slice of the real screen.

A summary of the real interface, played hands-free. You see one case from start to finish; what you don’t see are the other screens, and there are many.

  1. The rule gets built
  2. It goes to every camera
  3. Published, it watches alone
  4. And then it fires

And the best part

You decide the rule onceand it’s applied the same way every time.

At three in the morning it means what it means at noon, on camera one and on camera four thousand. It doesn’t depend on who’s on shift, or how tired they are.

Tell us your problem and we’ll say whether IRIS understands it, or not yet.

A person answers, the same working day.
